Never Mind…
Just a few days after reducing the daily download limit of the premium users, Rapidshare has now blocked all IPs of the Internet Service Provider BSNL from India.
The error message reads
Massive RapidShare hack attempts detected. IP block 59.90.0.0 - 59.99.255.255 blocked. Please call your internet provider.
Absolutely no idea when the IPs will be unblocked. Watch this space for more updates!

Update:
Its an automatic ban and if its a continuous ping attack from the Ip range the server will keep reinforcing the ban! Tough luck!
Update2:
This is what the reply I got when I mailed them
Hello,

possible.We apologize for the inconvenience.

Update3:
only old BSNL users have been blocked. New users having 117.x.x.x have not been blocked. Good for them

Update4:
Yuppiee!! Its resolved, I can finally access rapidshare.com and the premium section
Update5: Aug 1st 2008
Yet again, BSNL has been blocked completely. Reports are that BSNL IPs are just one of the many other ISPs being blocked by Rapidshare. Egypt is one of them.
And yeah, 117.xxx.xx.xx IPs of BSNL are working fine. What I hate about BSNL is they dont bother to give any explanation on what sort of hacking attempts are being made and what they are trying to do about it. I have written a letter to them, will update once I get a reply.
If you are a premium user, use a proxy to use the free option and once you have entered that image captcha thing wait for that 30-40 seconds count down and then the download link will appear asking you to click on it… instead of clicking on, you need to right click on it and go into properties and copy the link excluding the proxy sites redirection link and then paste it into your own browser and bingo your download will start.
Rapidshare just checks your ip to tally with the banned ip ranges when you initially land on the rapidshare download link page and once thats done through the proxy ip there ip banning thing is bypassed and you get what you want!!
I hope whatever I posted in this post is not illegal … if it is then Rapidshare needs to look into hiring a better programmer!!
Update 6
Rajesh from Indiabroadband.net has got this reply from RS staff
Hello,
unfortunately our security system is blocking the IP address you are
using to access our service.
Our system blocks IP addresses automatically when it detects amassive hack attempt of our servers.
It seems that the person who is causing the block is operating with
the same ISP or through the same Proxy Server as you are.
We suggest to contact your ISP in this matter, as we are not able todetermine which one of their customers is causing this problem.
We are working with high pressure on a solution to this problem.
Unfortunately we can not just lift the IP ban since this would
endanger the entire system and our customers accounts.

the funny part is that Rapidshare is not even letting the BSNL users sign up for a premium account!
